In the heart of Tuscia Viterbese, among spring waters, ancient bastions, and centuries-old traditions, Nepi is preparing to experience one of the most heartfelt and engaging moments of the year: the Patronal Festivities dedicated to Saints Romano and Tolomeo, which in 2025 will take place from August 21 to 31.
A special opportunity to discover a city rich in history and artistic beauty, immersed in a vibrant atmosphere filled with faith, performances, music, and popular culture.
An exhilarating start: urban sports and live music
The celebration kicks off on Thursday, August 21 with Tutto in una notte, an urban-style event that will liven up the Area Benessere with an explosive combination of street basketball, revival music, urban culture, and inclusivity. An evening dedicated to young people and families, perfect for energetically launching this long journey between the sacred and the profane.
Tradition and solemnity: the heart of the celebration
On August 22, as per tradition, the Concerto di San Romano will be held by the historic Banda Musicale Enrico Gai di Nepi, whose music will warm up Piazza del Comune, welcoming both residents and visitors.
The day of August 23 represents the true spiritual and cultural heart of the festivities: it begins at dawn with the blood donation at the AVIS headquarters, a gesture of solidarity that symbolically opens the celebration.
At 12:00 PM, the firing of mortars will officially announce the start of the patronal celebrations.
The afternoon is packed with activities: the contemporary art collective curated by the Associazione ETRURIART in Piazza del Duomo, the Torneo di San Romano with the Arcieri Storici at the Forte dei Borgia, and the opening of the exhibition L’arte in una penna biro by Palmisano Silvano.
At 6:30 PM, in the evocative setting of the Cathedral, the Messa Vespertina will be celebrated, a prelude to the solemn procession through the streets of the town with the participation of S.E. Monsignor Marco Salvi—a moment of intense popular and spiritual involvement.
The evening continues with a cabaret show by Marco Tana and concludes with one of the three eagerly awaited prize bingo games, with a grand prize of €2,000.
Music, children, and faith: the Sunday of the patron saints
August 24 is a sacred day, but also one of celebration for all ages. The Holy Masses will be held in the Cattedrale at 9:00 AM and 6:30 PM, while at 11:30 AM a Solemn Mass will be celebrated, again presided over by S.E. il Vescovo.
The afternoon is dedicated to the little ones with a comic magic and juggling show in Piazza del Duomo. But the true highlight of the evening will be the concert by the renowned Giuliano Palma, a nationally famous artist who will light up the square with his captivating rhythms. Following the performance, there will be another prize bingo drawing with €2,000 up for grabs.
Popular tradition and fireworks display
On Monday, August 25, the religious celebrations will take place in the Chiesa di San Tolomeo, starting at 8:00 AM.
At 4:30 PM, the town will come alive with the parade of the Hakuna Matata percussion group, bringing rhythm and color through the streets of the village.
At 9:30 PM, it will be time for the concert by L’Orchestraccia, a band that blends popular and modern sounds, for an event that promises engagement and fun. The evening will conclude with a prize bingo worth €3,000 and, afterwards, the highly anticipated fireworks display in località Pescinale, organized by the renowned Colonnelli Fireworks company—an explosion of lights, sounds, and emotions to bid farewell to the religious part of the festivities.
A final weekend of music, fashion, and games
The following week offers yet another opportunity to experience Nepi in festa:
On Friday, August 29, Piazza del Comune will host La mia libertà, a tribute evening to Franco Califano, dedicated to Anita, for lovers of singer-songwriter music and Italian songwriting.
On Saturday, August 30, the focus will return to children with puppet shows, giant bubbles, and games, while in the evening the Miss Amerina final will take place—a glamorous event combining a fashion show and live entertainment.
On Sunday, August 31, the grand finale with Nepi Express 2.0, an exciting challenge between thirty pairs of young residents of Nepi, who will make their way through the town’s streets and monuments, facing tests of skill, history, culture, and fun. A team game that combines discovery and healthy competition, designed to celebrate both youth and the local area.
