In the heart of the Tuscia region in Lazio, one of the most anticipated events for lovers of good food and local traditions returns: the Pecorino Cheese and Salame Cotto Festival of Nepi 2026, taking place from May 8 to 10 in Piazza del Comune, Nepi.

Now in its 22nd edition, this festival represents a perfect blend of gastronomy, culture, and entertainment, offering visitors an authentic experience among local flavors and regional specialties.

A journey through flavors and traditions

The undisputed stars of the festival are Pecorino Romano cheese from Lazio and the famous Salame Cotto of Nepi, accompanied by a wide range of local dishes served at the food stands open throughout the event. Must-try specialties include the “festival platter” with cold cuts and cheeses, vignarola (a traditional spring vegetable stew), nepiciana pasta, and bruschetta topped with pecorino cream.

Alongside the food, a craft and hobby market brings the town to life, offering unique handmade products and souvenirs connected to local traditions.

The program: three days of events

The festival kicks off on Friday, May 8, with the opening of the food stands and an evening of interactive games and entertainment suitable for all ages.

Saturday, May 9 marks the highlight of the event, with the official inauguration featuring the local marching band and the participation of civic and religious authorities. The day continues with children’s activities, musical performances, majorettes shows, and an evening filled with folk music, dancing to pizzica and tarantella rhythms.

On Sunday, May 10, in addition to food tastings, visitors can enjoy a historical archery competition valid for the Italian championship, cultural presentations, and live music entertainment.

The Pecorino Cheese and Salame Cotto Festival of Nepi is not just about food, but also about community and sharing. Workshops for children, entertainment, live music, and community initiatives make the event suitable for all ages. During the weekend, the Italian Red Cross will also be present with an information point and basic health services for visitors.
